This working sets a sigil — a star wrapped in its caul — to waken the inner eye and steady the memory of dreams that so often dissolve at daybreak. It is the art of giving shape to a wish so the sleeping mind may follow its lines.
The Working
- On the night of the new moon, still yourself and name the dream-sight you wish to waken.
- On clean paper draw a single star, then close it round with an unbroken circle, the caul that keeps it whole.
- Within the star write the vowels of your intent, letting the letters overlap until they become one strange mark.
- Anoint the four points of the paper with a trace of oil, sealing each with a fingertip.
- Pass the sigil three times above a candle’s flame, close enough to warm but never to scorch.
- Speak the incantation, then place the folded sigil beneath your pillow with the drawn side turned toward you.
- Let it rest there until the moon shows her first silver, then burn it and scatter the ash to the wind.

Star sealed in your silver caul,
open the eye behind them all.

What the sleeping self shall see,
let the waking self keep with me.
Sleep with the sigil near, and each morning write down whatever fragments remain, for the mark grows stronger the more you honor its gifts.
