At the pivot of the night, when one day has died and the next has not yet drawn breath, a mark made then belongs to neither and answers to both.
This sigil gathers blessing onto labour, a trade, a craft, a venture newly begun, so that the hands that do the work are met with increase. To bless the work is to bless the worker, and to ask the world to return honest effort with fortune.
The Working
- At midnight, light a single candle and a coil of amber or benzoin incense, and let the room settle into smoke and shadow.
- On clean paper, draw two hands clasped, then let their lines run together into a single sigil that no longer looks like hands at all.
- Set a piece of amber or citrine at the sigil’s centre and breathe your intention into the stone until it clouds with your warmth.
- Anoint the four edges of the paper with oil, naming at each the increase you would call: steady custom, fair coin, willing help, honest luck.
- Pass the whole sheet three times through the incense smoke, speaking the verse into each pass.
- Fold the sigil around a pinch of the spent ash and keep it where the work is done, unopened, until the venture takes root.
The Incantation
Midnight between the one day and the next,
two hands drawn down to a single sign;
bless me the labour, the loom, and the text,
bless me the trade and the fruit of the line.
Amber to hold it and smoke to send,
candle to witness and oil to seal;
grant to these hands, from beginning to end,
the increase that answers an honest zeal.
Leave the folded sign undisturbed. A blessing set upon work must be let alone to work.
