Amber and Marrow: A Prosperity Potion Spell for Lasting Abundance

0 3 min read 3 weeks ago
A witch strains a golden root-and-herb draught into a cup while raw amber and green aventurine remain in a glass bowl at dawn

Amber and Marrow is a prosperity potion spell: a warm draught steeped at first light from rainwater, raw amber, dark roots, and herbs of plenty, then drunk to draw slow, lasting abundance into your life. Before the world was minted into coin, wealth was warmth and root and the fat of the year. Some prosperity you spend; this kind you become.

For the wider table of colours, herbs, and planetary rulers, see the correspondences guide.

What You Will Need

  • A bowl for steeping, and a cup to drink from
  • Clean rainwater (or spring water left overnight under the open sky)
  • Crystals: a piece of raw amber and one green stone, such as citrine, green aventurine, or pyrite
  • Herbs and roots: dark roots like burdock, dandelion, and a shaving of ginger, with dried basil and mint for plenty
  • Incense with an earthy, expansive scent, such as cinnamon, cedar, or frankincense

The Best Time to Cast

Cast at dawn, ideally on a Thursday while the moon is waxing. Dawn is the heart of this working: you drink the rising sun’s gold and take that slow light inward. Thursday belongs to Jupiter, the planet of expansion and good fortune, and the waxing moon lends its swelling tide to anything you wish to grow. Together they set the current running toward increase before you lift the cup.

The Working

  1. At first light, fill a bowl with clean rainwater and set a piece of raw amber and a green crystal at its bottom.
  2. Kindle incense and pass the bowl three times through its smoke, letting the water take the scent.
  3. Add dark roots such as burdock, dandelion, and a shaving of ginger, with dried herbs of plenty like basil and mint.
  4. Warm the mixture until it steeps to gold, then whisper across the rising steam the old names of everything that has ever fed you.
  5. Strain the draught into a cup, leaving the amber and crystal in the bowl to keep their light.
  6. Speak the incantation to the dawn, then drink slowly while the sun clears the horizon.
  7. Pour the last mouthful onto the earth at your door, a share returned so the giving continues.

The Incantation

Amber of the drowned-gold sun,
marrow-root where the deep years run,
steam that rises, names of old,
turn my morning into gold.
What I drink, let me become,
slow and rooted, never done.
Dawn, bear witness: I am fed,
and plenty makes its bed.

Variations & Substitutions

  • No rainwater? Use spring or filtered water set out overnight beneath the sky so it gathers the same open blessing.
  • No raw amber? A citrine or a nugget of pyrite carries the same solar-gold wealth; a single amber bead will also serve.
  • Roots hard to find? Dried chicory root stands in for burdock or dandelion, and a cinnamon stick simmered with the ginger deepens both warmth and the pull toward wealth.

A Word on Intent

Prosperity magic is at its strongest when it harms none, as the Wiccan Rede reminds us. Brew this potion to open your own path to plenty, not to strip fortune from another or to bend a named person’s money or livelihood toward you. Ask that abundance flow to you from the wide, unhurried generosity of the earth, and let the mouthful poured out at your door stand as your half of the bargain: what you receive, you also return.
