Lodestone of the Quiet Mind

0 1 min read 4 hours ago

Before the sun has cleared the sill, while the house still keeps its night-quiet, the mind lies nearest to true north.

This sigil is a compass drawn for the thoughts. It reaches toward the moment of clarity when the scattered many become a single one, and the head, so often pulled a dozen ways, learns again to point true. What is oriented can be trusted; what is trusted can act.

The Working

  1. At first light, set a single candle at the center of your table and ring its foot with a thin circle of salt.
  2. On clean paper, write in one unbroken line the wish you carry — I think clearly, I choose truly — then strike out every vowel and every letter that repeats.
  3. From the letters that remain, bind their strokes one into another until they make a single mark, close as a knot and yours alone.
  4. Breathe upon the finished sigil three times, warm and slow, giving it the first breath of the day.
  5. Pass the paper once above the flame, near enough that the mark darkens but does not catch.
  6. Speak the incantation over it.
  7. Fold it toward you, carry it in a pocket over the heart, and let it lie against you until the choice is made.

The Incantation

Needle of me, come to rest,
turn from the many to the one.
Let scatter settle, let noise be stilled,
let north of the heart be found and held.
By the first clean light I set you true;
point, and I will follow.

Keep the sigil close until its work is done, then bury it at a crossroads or give it back to the flame; the mind, once oriented, remembers the way.
