The Gilded Reflection

A mirror is a doorway that only looks like glass, and at dusk — when the world hangs between the seen and the unseen — that door swings widest. What you show the mirror, the mirror shows the world, doubling all it is given back toward you.

This working reaches toward prosperity multiplied — the glass taking a single image of plenty and returning it magnified from the other side. It is advanced work, for the mirror reflects the worker as surely as the wish; you must come to it certain, and unafraid of your own wanting.

The Working

  1. At dusk, set a mirror upright on a table and draw a ring of salt around its base.
  2. Light a candle and place it before the glass, so a single flame becomes two.
  3. Kindle a coil of incense and let the smoke drift across the surface until the reflection blurs.
  4. Hold a coin or a note in the candlelight, where both you and the mirror can see it clearly.
  5. Speak the incantation to your own reflected eyes, not to the room around you.
  6. Tilt the coin so its gleam dances in the glass, and watch the doubled light multiply.
  7. Snuff the candle, break the salt ring toward yourself, and keep the coin as a seed.

The Incantation

Glass that doubles, glass that gives,
show me how abundance lives.
Take this little, gleaming, thin,
and pour a greater fortune in.
Eye to eye and light to light,
turn one coin to wealth this night.

Breaking the ring toward you releases the doubled fortune from the glass; cover the mirror, and let dusk close the door behind it.
