The Best Time to Cast
Cast at midnight, the hinge of the day, when the house has gone still and one day turns quietly into the next. Choose a Sunday, the day of the Sun, whose light governs blessing, warmth, and the good of the home; and work while the moon is waxing or full, so the blessing grows and increases rather than wanes. Midnight seals the working in silence, while the Sun’s day and the rising moon see that what you shut inside keeps swelling with good for years to come.
The Working
- At midnight, mix in a bowl the herbs of hearth and home with a measure of salt and low, murmured words of what you would keep.
- Layer the mixture into a clean jar, pressing each handful down firm with your thumb.
- Bed a small crystal in the very centre as the heart of the keep.
- Over the open mouth of the jar, name aloud every soul who lives beneath your roof.
- Seal the lid, then turn the jar three times widdershins and three times sunwise to lock the blessing in.
- Speak the verse with both hands laid flat upon the lid.
- Set the jar in a dark, still place, a cupboard, a hearthstone, the good earth, and leave it undisturbed.

Variations & Substitutions
- No frankincense on hand? Rosemary and rose alone carry the blessing well, and a bay leaf tucked in the centre adds hearth-luck and prosperity.
- Swap clear quartz for selenite if you want a gentler, cleansing heart to the keep — or bed a small piece of citrine instead to lean the working toward abundance and household coin.
- If you cannot bury or cupboard the jar, the back of a high, dark shelf will serve; the only rule is that it stays dark, still, and undisturbed once sealed.

An it harm none, do what ye will. A blessing laid over a home should gather good, never bind another’s will — name only those who live beneath your roof and who would welcome the keeping.
